We Answered the Call tells an untold story of success and hope from Operation Enduring Freedom. Wilhite recounts his amazing story, from the shock of an unexpected deployment to the tribulations of life in a war zone. Despite the chaos, Wilhite and his dedicated team of Afghan, American, and NATO colleagues used their diversity, their savvy, and their drive to overcome all obstacles and build a symbol of hope for the people of Afghanistan.
I enjoyed this book very much. It is with a sense of sadness that I read it realizing all of the good things that happened are now lost. These men and women pulled off quite a feat and should be remembered for bringing the NMAA to life.
A friend loaned this book to me. Her brother-in-law had met the author. I was glad to read about something positive happening in Afghanistan. I had no idea something like this had been built. Good story. The author does tend to repeat himself from time to time but I'm really glad I read it.
