There is still way too much leniency here. The dietary advice is push-pull... lose weight BUT eat banana bread, etc. If I ate this many carbs, low OR high GI, I don’t see how I could lose weight at all. And my T1D husband would be jacking up his insulin doses by at least twice what he is doing currently. Eh.

I may have chosen the wrong edition of this book (plus there is now a 2009 edition), but it was a great read for me as a diabetic. The authors present such a different approach to managing type 2 diabetes from the days when my Dad lived with diabetes. Understanding our bodies dietary needs plus how to manage that diet when health isn't what it was at age 30 is a wonderful assist to feeling great.
