Dr. Charles F. Stanley is the senior pastor of First Baptist Church Atlanta, founder of In Touch Ministries, and a New York Times best-selling author who has written more than fifty books, and has sold more than nine million copies. He demonstrates a keen awareness of people's needs and provides Christ-centered, biblically-based principles for everyday life.

Charles Frazier Stanley was born September 25, 1932, in the small town of Dry Fork, Virginia. The only child of Charley and Rebecca Stanley, Charles came into the world during a time when the entire nation felt the grip of the Great Depression. To make matters worse, just nine months later, his father Charley died at the young age of 29.

However, Charles refused to let the Great Depression or the difficulties of his life define him. Instead, like his father and grandfather before him, he clung to God’s Word and took up the mantle to preach the gospel to whoever would listen.

Dr. Stanley’s motivation is best represented by the truth found in Acts 20:24, “Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God's mighty kindness and love.” This is because, as he says, “It is the Word of God and the work of God that changes people’s lives.”

Dr. Stanley’s teachings can be heard weekly at First Baptist Church Atlanta, daily on “In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley” radio and television broadcasts on more than 2,800 stations around the world, on the Internet at intouch.org, through the In Touch Messenger, and in the monthly, award-winning In Touch magazine.

Loved every lesson in this devotional

Every lesson in this book directly reflects God’s word and relates it to a personal experience. For me, the quick devotional reading leads me to my morning prayer and much needed quiet time with God to prepare me for the day.

From one of the most trusted voices in Christianity today, Charles F. Stanley, comes I Lift Up My Soul: Devotions to Start Your Day With God.

Being a fan of Charles Stanley and his teaching ministry, InTouch, I was anxious to read and review this new Devotional. If there is anyone living in our times that truly deserves the title saint, it is Dr. Charles F. Stanley.

This is a yearly Devotional with one message for each day of the year and contains a wealth of wisdom and instruction packed into short daily messages.

A large majority of Devotional books are purchased as gifts to give a friend or loved one for a special occasion or event. This Devotional is a perfect choice as a gift but you may want to buy and extra copy for yourself.

What I enjoy most from the teaching of Dr. Stanley is his no-nonsense way of teaching God’s word. He is not known for his great swelling emotional messages. He is better known and admired for his rock-solid teachings.

What I look for in a Devotional is first the insight of the author. Does this author offer good counsel and insightful wisdom? Or, is this author revealing lessons learned from particular viewpoint that I am interested in learning more about? In Dr. Stanley’s newest Devotional, I hit the jackpot.

The format for Devotional books vary. In this Devotional, the reader finds first title, a Scripture reference (the context the key verse), the key verse, the devotion, and a short prayer. Many of the devotions include illustrations and references to testimony of public figures. All in all, it is very well-balanced.

If you are looking for a Devotional for personal use or as a gift, this is an excellent choice. I generally donate all the books I receive for reviews to our Church. Not this one, I will keep this one for my personal use. A kind thanks to Thomas Nelson for providing it for review.

Taken from the writings of Charles Stanley, it includes a scripture reading and key verse for each day, 365 pages of inspiring devotional readings that are sure to tag on your spirit.
An Excerpt:

Focus on Jesus
Scripture reading Acts 16:22-32
Key Verse Acts 16:25

Paul and Silas had a strong belief that transcended circumstances, events, people, feelings; it even transcended pain. That belief was in the person, the power, and presence of Jesus Christ. They believed their suffering wasn't as important as the message they carried... They sag so loudly their voices were heard throughout the prison! And not only that, God.. opened the prison doors for them. Their happiness came from the belief in Jesus within them and not from circumstances around them.

That one was only part of what it says but the meaning is we all try to make our lives perfect, if only I had that new movie I will be happy or if only I had a new cellphone, then I will be happy. It reminds us that the joy comes from our relationship with God and his everlasting faithfullness not our ever changing circumstances.

I have several books just like this one, and I love them all!! It's so nice to read these each day. There's one page dedicated to each day of the year. I have plenty of time to do my thing in the mornings but I know some of you are on a tight schedule each day and don't have time to spare. This book is perfectly suited for you, in that if need be, the day's excerpt can be read very quickly and you can move on if you don't have the time to sit and ponder what you've just read, sort through your thoughts, and pray like I do. Sometimes it gets really exciting and I wake up to find out that the reading for that day totally hits the spot and is aimed specifically towards something I'm struggling with at the moment or something major that is currently happening in my life. It doesn't happen every day, but it's definitely exciting when it does! If it doesn't though, either way, I still enjoy starting/ending my days with these devotionals. They are most certainly helping to improve and strengthen my once long lost relationship with God.

If you are someone who gets up in the morning and before anything else, you have a cup of coffee and sit down to enjoy some uplifting, inspirational devotions that will carry you through the day, then I think you would enjoy this book. Dr. Stanley is a wonderful speaker and writer. I have learned so much through his daily devotionals I receive daily by the means of email.

Hope you will enjoy as I have. It is a book that never gets old and never fails to remind us of something we were looking for.

Going to mark this as read because I know that I will finish it by the end of the year. It's my daily devotional and it's really good, just like all the rest of the books that I've read that have been written by Charles Stanley.
