When young Lily grows bored with painting the smiles on dog faces that decorate the dog houses her town is famous for churning out . . . a town with NO child labor laws, I might add - she escapes into the forest where her animal pals help her build THE MOST AWESOME HOUSE EVER!!! (Because who DOESN'T want a tree house with a slide that ends up in a pond, I ask you!)

The illustrations by Jack Ziegler really pop with their brilliant autumnal shades.

I bought this one to read to my boys, but I think I liked it more than they did.

And, I still want that slide, dammit!
