The famous screen idol's writings about his adventures and travels are presented along with excerpts from his two novels, his wry observations on Hollywood, and his firsthand reports on Castro and the Cuban Revolution.
Errol Flynn appeared in some 60 films from 1933 to the late 1950s and gained the reputation of being the quintessential Hollywood swashbuckling sword-wielding adventure hero. His private life was a different matter altogether, and he was involved in a number of scandal-laden Hollywood incidents.
A fascinating read! Having read Flynn’s two novels and his autobiography, it was refreshing getting the chance to hear his voice on other topics. I particularly enjoyed his musings on his first movie kiss with Olivia de Havilland, as well as his early days working and roaming New Guinea. A word of warning, some of his writings in this book do contain some... shall we say... outdated views. But, to be fair, the majority were written over 80 years ago! I’m always looking for further glimpses into the man that was Errol Flynn, and this collection of written works certainly does just that.
