The Kung Fu TV series starring David Carradine as Kwai Chang Caine was my favorite TV show. It ran for three seasons, starting in 1972, and was the story of a Shaolin monk who was traveling through the American West, armed only with his spiritual training and martial arts skill. This book is based on one of the television episodes. Caine finds himself found guilty of a crime he did not commit. For his punishment, he is forced to work in a silver mine. The Shaolin monk will need all his power to win freedom and overcome evil men.... A super-fast read which made for a very enjoyable afternoon read...
Each book in this series (there are four of them; see my reviews) is based on an episode from the first season of this 1970's tv show, but are actually better with added characters and sub-plots. In this one, our hero Kwai Chang Caine, after being falsely arrested, is trapped with other convicts in a mine after a cave-in.
Falsely accused of stealing beans, Caine once again imprisoned and sent to forced labor in a mine. Caine will continue to work hard and be the best he can despite the harsh conditions. Caine will influence men, fight men, drive men to want to kill him. The least entertaining of the first three books. Niot enough Master Po philosophy either.
