May be I could not relate to it ..bcoz I found it quite uninteresting and a drag. Even the suspense author tried to create about the girl Vijay marries is not actually a suspense..I could make out from the very beginning who it is going to be. Disappointing one for me

I got this from my Indian then roommate.

If you think along the lines of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"/"Bride and Prejudice" then that's pretty much it.

I enjoyed it from an anthropological point of view and learned a lot about the specific culture.

Now, I am curious if things have changed a lot since 2002 (when it was written) or even 2005 (when I read it)?

If you have ever experienced even the slightest pressure about marriage or seen others go through it, you will find this book entertaining. The book explores some of the issues first generation Asians have and some of the conflicts that arise with our families. This is definitely a good fun read!
