« Ma vie à Yonago est racontée par des personnages divers, réels ou rêvés, qui traversent ou occupent franchement divers décors, réels ou rêvés eux aussi. Certaines histoires se déroulent dans des lieux existants, comme par exemple celui où j?ai grandi, ce quartier polonais, dur et ouvrier, du South Side de Chicago, appelé Back-of-the-Yards (Derrière les Abattoirs), tandis que d?autres ont pour cadre une Athènes imaginaire, ou un Amiens dans lequel passé et présent se chevauchent. Yonago est aussi un lieu qui existe, mais uniquement parce que les personnages et l?auteur le désirent fortement. »

15 books12 followersSharon Mesmer is an American writer. Born in the windy city, she moved to New York City in 1988 and has since made the East Coast of the United States her home.
Mesmer is considered to be a member of the Flarf poetry movement.
From 2003-2006 her column, “Seasonal Affect,” appeared in the French fashion magazine Purple; currently her music and book reviews can be found in The Brooklyn Rail.
Her awards include a 2010 Fulbright Specialist grant, a 2009 Jerome Foundation/SASE grant (as co-recipient/mentor, with poet Elisabeth Workman, grantee), two New York Foundation for the Arts fellowships (2007 and 1999), and the 1990 MacArthur Scholarship given through the Brooklyn College MFA poetry program by nomination of Allen Ginsberg.
She also teaches creative writing at New York University and the New School.
