This is an excellent resource I use daily with my students. Each day after the two editing sentences, students are provided two analogies to solve.
We learn to find the relationship of the one pair that is provided. Once the relationship is found, then students apply it to the open pair. After the first week or two of doing these together, students become successful solving them on their own.
There are 10 analogies provided each week. They are not all words as sometimes mathematical expressions or drawings are used. There are a handful of analogies provided that do not work well with my students for various reasons. When I come to those, I substitute other analogies.
We find that there are often multiple correct responses. These are usually synonyms for words that are sought. Sometimes students approach the analogy from a different point of view. I love it when they do. Sometimes we find that there are other relationships that can be seen.
