Art Nature Dialogues offers interviews with artists working with, in, and around nature and the environment. The interviews explore art practices, ecological issues, and values as they pertain to the siting of works, the use of materials, and the ethics of artmaking. John K. Grande includes interviews with Hamish Fulton, David Nash, Bob Verschueren, herman de vries, Alan Sonfist, Nils-Udo, Michael Singer, Patrick Dougherty, Ursula von Rydingsvard, and others.
I like the set-up of the book. The conversations or interviews are different from most non-fiction books. I like the variety of the people interviewed, and the questions were interesting and relevant. That being said, I HATE it when art books print pictures in black and white. Doesn't that completely defeat the purpose? I could understand if it was an older book or the art was old and no other pictures existed, but this book was published in 2004 with current artists. There is no excuse for that.
