Now in a brand new Fourth Edition, this classic text - which for many years has proved an indispensible reference for complementary therapists using massage in their discipline - has now been carefully updated, considerably enlarged and newly presented. The book is still usefully divided into clear, easy to use sections, but each now contains far more information. There are 60 vegetable carrier oils discussed in detail, with useful tables, a glossary, a cross reference chart of common ailments, a thorough index, a discussion of essential fatty acids and their impact on bodily health, and other valuable appendices. Also new for this edition is the inclusion of a wide selection of culinary recipes created to combine the therapeutic value of the carrier oils with flavourful, simple to prepare, healthy meals. A bible for all complementary practitioners and a veritable storehouse of knowledge for anyone interested in increasing their understanding of carrier oils, this celebrated book - the first of its kind - is unmissable.
This book is amazing. Though most aromatherapy, herbal, and natural skin care books briefly describe vegetable/base/carrier oils used in cosmetics, few books go into depth on the subjects like this one does. There are only two other books focusing on carrier oils in natural cosmetics to my knowledge. One great thing about Price and Price's recent books is that each section is referenced so you can see where they got their information from. They not only use aromatherapy, herbalism, and natural cosmetic sources, but scientific studies as well--so a very well balanced view.
Just got the new edition, but haven't read it yet but it is A LOT longer. Expensive book (because of the pound to dollar conversion) but so very worth it! :)
