Tiziano Vecellio (c. 1488/1490 – 27 August 1576) Latinized as Titianus, hence known in English as Titian was an Italian Renaissance painter.

Titian was one of the most versatile of Italian painters, equally adept with portraits, landscape backgrounds, and mythological and religious subjects.

Another interesting volume in the series "One Hundred Paintings", this time featuring Titian's piece "Sacred and Profane Love". Like the other books in the series, this one is lavishly illustrated with many examples of the artist's work. Here Titian's piece is shown in various closeups and even x-rayed, thus revealing insight into his painting approach. Nice overview of the various periods of his career.
