I honor God for giving me this word for his people. While being incarcerated I experienced God like never before. All that I have been through in my life God told me to write it down because my life is a testimony to the next person. We as people of God need to be able to detect the many different disguises of the enemy. In this book I am going to expose the enemy. I'm going to bring to the light the many different disguises and faces that the enemy has set for the people of God to lose their focus. Satan is present and evident and present in the world today and unless we recognize his disguises we will be unable to defeat him. I pray that this word convict the hearts of the readers
In his book, James Benjamin shows the reader how he fell. Benjamin was once in the church but church wasn't in him. The design of his mind lead to his disobedience. Before he knew it the things he saw on the videos; the clothes, fancy cars, girls and clubbing took precedence over going to church; the enemy had him. Each time he found his way the enemy was right there with the same old tricks to get him back in his army and as Benjamin puts it "I was in court so much I can recall this attorney saying to me, You are becoming a frequent flyer aren't you."
As any believer knows there comes a time when God will step in, and once He does that the lesson becomes harder. It took this author being stripped of ALL his material possessions before he got it. My mother use to say I had to "hit it to get it" I believe with Benjamin it was the same thing.
This book attempt to show the people of God how to detect the many different mask the enemy (devil) wears and it delivers on that point. One of his strong points is that the enemy will try to make us lose our focus, knock us off our game. But we have to stay prayed up and in the word, most important is it has to resonate with our spirit. He mentions that Satan will toy with believers and non-believers; however his focus is believers. I think the message that the enemy is real and living amongst us in this world today is a valid one.
The author mentions that "the enemy is after young people" I wish the scripture reference in the book was written in a different version instead of King James. I believe a young person would have challenges with the Scripture language. The NIV or the Message version would've been more applicable to our young believers and non-believers. Once they are able to eat solid food (KJV) over drinking milk (reading the Message version) then the KJV would be appropriate for them. But when writing from the confinements of a cell you use what you have.
The book is also a little too preachy but the testimony is one that is needed in these times we are living. I like the way the author laid the book out from "Who Is the Enemy" to "Fasting and Praying" a great start and finish. Keep being obedient brother and listening to and for God.
A complimentary copy of this book was provided by the author for the purpose of this review.
