A huge resource for infant and toddler development. This book talks about ways to teach, grow, and interact with infants and toddlers. The approach in this book covers relationships at an early age, including Erickson's stages of man and attachment theory. The development covered in this also covers prenatal and the care that should happen even before birth. Other topics include: nature vs. nurture; brain development; sensitive periods and windows of opportunity; self regulation; the importance of play; poverty; child care; early intervention programs; cultural effects; relationship based theory; transactional theory; bioecological systems theory; emotional development; cognitive development; language development; motor development; importance of observation; social development; children with special needs; health, safety, and nutrition; routines; environments; challenging behaviors; and so much more! This book is thick with information and a great resource for those first years with a child.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this text book. I got so much information from it and feel so much more prepared to my job teaching young children because of it. This is going on my book shelf for future reference. The quizzes that went with this book were terrible. Quite often they were wrong or very ambiguous answers.
