Running for Life

Based on a true story, this tells the tale of Thembi, an HIV-positive woman training to run the Comrades Marathon. She wants to run the marathon before she dies. The story explores her training programme and how she felt while training. Readers get an idea of what it is like to train for a marathon. At the end, she completes the marathon with the support of her brother and her friends.

Gisela Winkler ist eine deutscheDipl.-Germanistin, Lektorin und Sachbuchautorin, die sich besonders mit der Geschichte des Zirkus, der Artistik und Zauberkunst beschäftigt und dazu zahlreiche Publikationen herausgebracht hat.

Sie ist Mitarbeiterin im Cabuwazi Kinder- und Jugendzirkus und Vorstand der Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Kinder- und Jugendzirkus (LAG Zirkus) Berlin-Brandenburg.

Gisela Winkler is a German diploma holder in German studies, editor and non-fiction author who is particularly interested in the history of circus, artistry and magic and has published numerous books on this subject.

She is a staff member at Cabuwazi Children's and Youth Circus and a member of the board of the Berlin-Brandenburg State Working Group for Children's and Youth Circus (LAG Zirkus).
