Rhonda Roberts went looking for love in all the wrong places, and found it through an ad in the personals. Family and friends think she's crazy when she becomes engaged to a convicted felon, and the lengths she'll go to see him set free. We're all vulnerable in love; this story touches on the emotions we face when we open ourselves to others. --Julie Hyzy, author of the White House Chef Mysteries
The immensely popular Booktown Mystery series is what put Lorraine Bartlett’s pen name Lorna Barrett on the New York Times Bestseller list, but it’s her talent -- whether writing as Lorna, or L.L. Bartlett, or Lorraine Bartlett -- that keeps her in her readers' hearts. This multi-published, Agatha-nominated author pens the exciting Jeff Resnick Mysteries as well as the acclaimed Victoria Square Mystery series, and now the Tales of Telenia fantasy saga, and has many short stories and novellas to her name(s). She lives in Rochester, NY, with her husband and two cats.
Rhonda dreams of settling down to a home and a family, but at age thirty-five, she is starting to feel desperate. Will an ad in the personals section of her newspaper find that forever after love? Even if he is serving a prison sentence? Can she truly find love under this negative cloud! I enjoyed this short story and the character of Rhonda as she sought to stand up against her friends and family to make things work out despite all the odds. Sometimes love does win out. Disclosure: I am voluntarily reviewing this book.
Rhonda dreams of marriage and kids, but age 35 she fears this won’t happen. She decides to take out an ad in the personals. The person who responds seems to be the perfect man but is he really?
This a wonderful short story. I can identify with Rhonda that being over a certain age and single can sometimes be lonely. Rhonda is so afraid this is her last opportunity to love and children that she refuses to listen to her sister’s warnings or even her own fears that this isn’t the man for her. I was really happy with the outcome of the story.
I recommend this short story to those that want to enjoy a little romance in their day.
A delightful short about finding that special someone in an unexpected way. It will leave you smiling in the end and give you hope that love can be found anywhere at anytime. It's a perfect read for someone who doesn't have a lot of time but loves to read.
Rhonda goes about trying to find her perfect someone in a somewhat unconventional way. She feels that she has found her soul mate, but there is a catch in that he is in prison. I found it interesting what all she did to try to make her dream come true, and have to shake my head at the thought her deciding to even go that route to begin with.
Very interesting story. Riveting and I really enjoyed it. Rhonda has a pen pal in a correctional facility and thinks that she'll marry him. Things may not turn out as Rhonda expects but look for the silver lining.
Rhonda is desperately looking for love. She answers a personal ad in a newspaper from a convict and falls in love. Rhonda learns he is innocent and helps prove it. Rhonda has found love although not what she expected.
