Here is a practical introduction to one of the most complex jobs in theatre. Linda Apperson clearly and concisely leads the reader through the procedures and responsibilities of stage management, from auditions to closing night. This is a resource book that will become a constant companion for both the novice and the experienced theatre person. Stage Managing and Theatre Etiquette includes samples of prompt scripts and other essential stage manager's tools. Concise, complete, accessible, and full of the joy of making live theatre. —Robert Kelley, TheatreWorks
Good overview of the basics for true beginners, which is rare to find. Somewhat dated and lacking in some places. Also, shame is NOT a theatrical tool. Cmon.
Unlike a lot of theater books that spend a lot of time waxing poetic about History and Art and the Soul, this little book didn't spend much time blowing on the hair before it got to the hide. As a matter of fact, it about shaved the animal for you. Never have I seen so much common sense and basic tips compressed into so small a space for the reader. I may have to buy this. The only reason it doesn't have five stars is because it's a little old, and doesn't mention sound tech or sound cues (sound props were a thing you guys I feel like a baby!)
