Václav Jan Staněk (July 16, 1907, Miskovice - October 5, 1983, Prague) was a Czech scientist - naturalist, mycologist, botanist, director of the Prague zoo, photographer and filmmaker. At the beginning of the years 30 he was assistant to the National Museum, in the years 1936 to 1940 he was promoted to director of the Prague Zoo. Václav Jan Staněk (16 juli 1907, Miskovice - 5 oktober 1983, Praag) was een Tsjechische wetenschapper - naturalist, mycoloog, botanicus, directeur van de Praagse dierentuin, fotograaf en filmmaker.
Aan het begin van de jaren 30 was hij assistent van het Nationaal Museum, in de jaren 1936-1940 werd hij gepromoveerd tot directeur van de Praagse dierentuin. Tijdens de oorlog keerde hij terug naar de zoölogische afdeling van het Nationaal Museum. (Bron: Tsjechische Wikipedia)
