Fotheringham gives a glimpse about the more important races (three weeks races, one week races, all the main classics) and the cyclists (from Binda to Armstrong, the book was published in 2003 before the fall of the latter) who have built the epic of this sport and made it one of the most followed in part of Europe.

A fine book for someone who has arrived recentyly at pro cycling and loves it, but doesn't know about its history. It's very advisable for them, not so much for those who have already read about it, since it does not go into details or tell anything new.

A coffee table book with some great pics and interesting stories Published in 2003 and in need of an update, Lance Armstrong really wasn'y the amazing Tour de France winner portrayed in the book. Loads of interesting detail, many of my teenage cycling heroes are now very old, or dead which is a bit of a shock. Great book if outdated.

Beautiful pictures from all the classics - and what I learned in particular was where the Madonna Di Chisallo is - and that I could visit it on my holidays there near Lake Como.
