Understanding And Managing Risk Attitude

Rate this book
Assuming a basic knowledge of risk management concepts and processes, Hillson (director, Risk Doctor & Partners) and Murray-Webster (managing partner, Lucidus Consulting) focus on a key human determinant of the success or failure of risk management, risk attitudes held by individual and groups within organizations. They explain how risk attitudes influence risk management and provide advice on countering attitudes that produce negative results with the promotion of "emotional literacy," described as including the ability to identify uncertainties, assess the probability of uncertainty occurring, assess uncertainty's potential impact, and decide how to respond to assessed risks. Usually it's not so hard to find some good books covering the technical side of risk management, but, this one put this aside and focus in the human behavior and heuristics in face of the risks and that's is the main point that made the book really precious.

The writing style is very clear also and you dont need even to be a project management professional to extract some gold nuggets from this one.

Really a must-read!

Excellent book to understand better people behavior when handling risks. For me it is a must read even before you think about identifying and analyze risks.

Excelente livro para compreender melhor o comportamento das pessoas quando lidando com os riscos. Para mim é um livro obrigatório antes sequer de pensar em identificar e analisar os riscos.
