a little dense in the first few chapters if you don't have a background, but once you understand and get through it, it isn't so bad. i'm a little more than halfway through and hope to be finished with it soon...

used this in the college personal training courses I took, studied out of it and passed my cert exam. missing anatomical charts, though, and a lot of the info is repetitive, with the language somewhat unnecessarily wordy

Great text - written by the National Strength and Conditioning Association - It discusses basic exercise physiology and biomechanics, the initial evaluation, exercise techniques and program design. It also touches on special populations such as pregnant and preadolescent.
