It tries to explain the genealogy of fundamentalist Islam in Indonesia and their political feats since the Independence Era. It's quite dry as it incorporates a lot of historical sources. The book is more geared towards academics, since it is indeed rich in empirical facts and is especially useful for those interested in studying fundamentalist political Islam in Indonesia.

it took me a while to read this - a little dry and academic - but a very interesting perspective and history on a very interesting subject.
