This picturebook tackles a very delicate issue just beautifully. I highly recommend it in case you want to talk about new siblings or even reproduction to children. Am sure they are full of question! ;)

Full House is a book all about pregnancy. It begins with a “fat dog” who hides inside a cabinet and “comes out thin.” The reader soon figures out that the dose is not fat but pregnant and had puppies. The book progresses in this same manner with a pregnant cat, and finally the mother of the little girl in the story has babies of her own. This is a lift-the-flap book that allows the reader to lift the flap and count the puppies, cats, or babies behind them. This is a very simple easy read for children ages four to six. Even if a child cannot read they could still enjoy it for the simple pictures and ability to lift the flap and see the puppies and kittens. I would use this book to introduce pregnancy, while also encouraging very basic counting.
