Rate this book
THERE WAS A BABY ON HIS DOORSTEP!

Emmy Harris knew her new job would be demanding, but she hadn't been prepared to have to live in the Alaskan wilderness with a gorgeous doctor -- and his maybe baby! She was a professional, though; she could handle this. Until she held baby Mickey. Until the good doctor melted her with a single kiss...

Aiden Tarlington knew better than to risk his heart on a sophisticated city girl like Emmy. So why couldn't he stop kissing her, wanting her, thinking about the three of them -- how nice it felt, how much he wanted it to last forever?

Victoria Pade is the bestselling author of numerous contemporary romances, six historical romances and two mystery novels. She began her writing career after leaving college to have her first daughter. That daughter was seven years old and there was a second daughter, before Victoria had her first book accepted for publication. That novel and the three that followed it were historical romances. But the exit of her husband and the urge to do more contemporary writing that explored the kinds of problems she was facing inspired a switch.

This book was totally predictable, but it served its purpose as a very quick read. I haven't read a Harlequin in years but this became my first read of 2013, and I happened to get sucked in just by doing a random Google Books search.

The story goes that this woman flies to Alaska to assess whether or not a remote hospital fits the needs of the grant her foundation is providing. Of course the one doctor in town is also the hottest, most unbelievably attractive man in the universe, which the author makes very clear, quite frequently. Throw in a baby in a basket left on the doctor's porch and a close quarters living arrangement with said doctor and the woman, and you can pretty much guess what happens from there. I mean it-- you can pretty much guess.

As I said, it was a quick, mushy read.
