Kay Lee Arthur was an American Christian author, Bible teacher, and co-founder of Precept Ministries International. Renowned for her accessible and inductive approach to Bible study, she helped millions engage deeply with Scripture. Arthur began her ministry informally, teaching teenagers in her living room alongside her second husband, Jack Arthur. Their work soon grew into a global outreach, headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, under the name Precept Ministries International. She hosted the daily Bible teaching program Precepts for Life and became a respected voice in evangelical circles. Arthur authored numerous books and was a four-time winner of the ECPA Christian Book Award for titles such as A Marriage Without Regrets and The New Inductive Study Bible. Her ministry was rooted in a personal reawakening to faith in the early 1960s, following a divorce and a return to religious life. She and Jack also served briefly as missionaries in Mexico before founding their ministry. Arthur remained active in public faith-based initiatives into her later years and was known for her firm stances on social issues. She passed away on 2025 leaving behind a lasting legacy in Christian education and publishing.
This devotion was just meh. I almost abandoned it a few times, but there were just enough devotions that were good that I decided to keep reading. I just skimmed it many days so I was tempted to give it only two stars but it wasn't because it was bad, just didn't connect with me.
This is a very good Christian daily devotional book. Each day's devotion is reasonable in length, easy to read, and focused. It does not feel repetitive or unconvincing over time. I received this book in high school. I was raised baptist and starting to question that around the same time. During that time in my journey i didn't find this book very helpful. In college i tried several churches of different christian denominations. Long story short I'm catholic now, much older, and more confident in my faith. I've used this book more now than when I was baptist as I think it is best for someone who is more settled in their faith, not someone questioning or confused. i.e: give this book to someone in college or older and who has been in the faith a while; otherwise it is a drag and discouraging as it is not exceptionally deep. Also now that I am Catholic, it doesn't quite fit me. Fundamentalist Christianity and Catholicism are starkly different in some ways. Although I like the book, i am looking to donate it and replace it with something more my speed.
This is an older devotional but it was definitely timely. Ms Arthur pulls no punches and adamantly shares the gospel and how God's Word should be transforming ME daily. Definitely manageable - one page per day. I read a hard copy - not kindle.
Jump Start Your Day With A Meaty Devotional Book -- While a lot of devotional books provide nice encouraging word for the day, Kay Arthur’s Lord, I Give You This Day provides powerful, deep thoughts for you to reflect upon and jump start your day in the right direction….all jam-packed within a one page daily devotional.
For example, April 14 starts off “Will your words and actions today reveal you to others as a man or woman of integrity and honesty?”. March 5th starts “Did you awaken this morning with a thankful heart, beloved? If not, may I ask why?” October 19th starts “In our conversations and interactions with other people, we need to continually bring to mind these words of Jesus: ‘Do not judge so that you will not be judged…’” November 2nd starts “Does your treatment of others reflect the humility that characterizes a disciple of Jesus?” October 27th states “Beloved child of God, every trial – past, present and future – is part of God’s refining process to make you like Jesus.”
Each devotional includes a scripture and a wonderful lesson to help focus your mind and your day to a right perspective on the things that really matter. It’s a powerful mini-sermon wrapped up on one page. I can’t think of a better way to start your day! I have many different devotional books. This is sure to be a favorite! Makes a great gift too.
I received this book from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishers in exchange for a fair and honest opinion of this book.
Author Kay Arthur's Lord, I Give You This Day 366 Appointments With God was a rewarding experience for me. I am grateful to Blogging for Books for the opportunity to get to know this writer. I really enjoy her writing style and look forward to obtaining more of her books. This daily devotional beacons the reader to make a greater commitment to their service for Christ. She explains how we can make God our center no matter what may befall us. Highlighting many opportunities to please our Lord and draw closer to him, this book will walk us through many of the trials that we all encounter. With scripture, the author is able to uplift and encourage us everyday. On January 3rd she shares, '"Oh friend, let me assure you that no matter what changes are occurring in your life, in your job, in your family, in the nation there is always one stabilizing factor upon which you can rest: your God. He is the immovable Rock. You can hide in Him."' Such inspiring words bring a hopeful start to each reader's morning. If you have been down and out, this book will bring you strength and courage. Devotionals are awesome in that way, giving you enough to ponder on for that day and than blessing your soul with something new on the next day.
This devotional is packed with religious inspiration, mixing brief readings of Biblical passages with prayers designed to reinforce spirituality throughout the day Kay is down to earth and writes as such, making Biblical truth extremely easy to understand. She makes the point of the entry short, easy to read, easy to understand and easy to remember. This devotional is offers encouragement to draw you in to your time with Christ, eager to ask the Spirit to work in your life today. I easily get caught up it the world of today, and forget what's really important. This book puts into prospective how important my relationship with God truly is. Each devotion can be read in just a few minutes, but they are so substantial that you will reflect on them long after you put the book down.
I really enjoyed referring to this book for daily reading. It was and continues to be a quick source of nourishment. I love how it uses Scripture, encouragement, and prayer consistently. The language is practical and simple. It's easy to grab a hold of the messages. The writing sounds familiar, comfortable. It would be a good go-to resource for any one looking to supplement their regular Bible reading.

This devotional is not light and fluffy, but meaty and refreshing; calling you to maturity in Christ. Kay sticks to the facts, not opinions, pointing you as an arrow, ready to hit the mark, of obeying God's Word everyday. Incorporate this book as part of your quiet time and I believe that you will be positioned to be built up and strengthened in your faith. As you take in these daily doses of truth you will be challenged to evaluate yourself in the light of the gospel and realign your thinking and actions according to it. This book is a call to action...to abide in Christ as you give Him each day.
I am so happy that I received this complimentary book through Waterbrook Multnomah to review!
