Breaking glass and a gun pressed to your cheek is not the way to wake up from a sexy dream fantasy. But that’s exactly how Rose Donahue was awakened one night. Then the questions. “What are you doing here,” repeated from each side of the gun. Rose had no idea what was going on.
Clay Walker has been on a manhunt for a couple of years and thinks he is at the end of the trail. Thom Donohue was a suspect in an international robbery and was wanted for both robbery of a very rare and valuable diamond and murder. So when Clay found someone in Thom’s old house, he thought he had scored. Perhaps he did score, just not what he thought he was going to score.
Rose Donahue decides that if all her beliefs were lies and there was going to be an investigation, she was going to be involved. How dare her scumbag of a husband leave her in such a lurch thinking he was dead! She had scrimped and paid for his mistakes for over two years and finally felt she was where she could relax. Being the headstrong woman she was, she was going to be involved and find out the truth. If nothing else, she was going to clear her name and what better way than to accompany a sexy detective as they traced down the clues.
Clay was not one to get involved with the witnesses in his cases, but this one was definitely different. Even though he didn’t like to admit it, he did feel a twinge when he finally decided she didn’t know where any diamond, money or the ex husband was.
So the manhunt continues, Rose and Clay searching for the diamond before she is found dead.
Rhonda Lee Carver has given her readers a shiny diamond of a story to be enjoyed, admired and as they quickly turned the pages through each event leading up to the shocking ending. This diamond has it all…action, suspense, intrigue and just enough romance to make the readers smile a gleaming smile. I hated this story to end. I can see where Ms. Carver could have other adventures for us to enjoy and hope that she continues to share her diamonds with us.
