Examines the lives of and fills in missing chapters in the stories of Old Testament women, including Hagar, Esther, Rachel and Leah, Miriam, Tamar, and Deborah
it was a pretty interesting read and relatively easy to read because the author broke up the book into smaller sections. the book was basically retelling bible stories from the women's perspective/giving the women more of a voice.
this book felt very "honest" to me, in its portrayal of the lives of these women who were walking their own paths to G-d, and finding themselves (more often than not) rubbing dust out of their eyes and spitting sand out from between their teeth.
life was never pretty, but it was always beautiful... and the stories of our Matriarchs are most definitely proof of that.
