Excellent book to give a 10 year old girl to introduce her to puberty.

Oh dear, this book is very outdated. Focuses too much on appearance. There's a paragraph about how body changes during puberty make your waist look slimmer and sexier, especially if you're wearing a crop top. And refers to how even the plainest, gawkiest girl at school can become a beautiful actress after puberty. Seriously?!

Unfortunately my daughter borrowed this book from class and read it from cover to cover before I realised how bad it is. Teachers should really vet the books they have in class.

No me gustó que pone a celebridades y modelos como punto de referencia, lo cual no me parece adecuado en un mundo donde esa fatuidad permea la psique de nuestras infancias, les impone imágenes corporales uniformes (poco diversas) que pueden causar problemas a muchas niñas. Pero ya hablaré sobre esto con mi hija cuando termine de leerlo.

Es un buen libro para empezar, con la salvedad anterior.

I would definitely not recommend this book to any fellow parent looking to raise their child in a supportive environment that encourages self esteem. It is surprisingly backward, often incorrect, sexist, homophobic and raises worrying boundaries about consent and sexual assault. Frankly, I am surprised this book is still in print.

Bought that book initially for my little sister for when she grows up, teenage me would have benefited a lot from it. It’s super fun to read and I was impressed that the author included « help lines numbers » for further communication. Also that book reminded me so much of « Ask Lara » series on YouTube

Absolutely amazing with helping young girls learn about everything they need and the tiny things about boys I think there is the slightest element of playful humour involved in this book I thoroughly enjoyed it and have read it about 2-3 times now!!!

I am a grown woman with two much younger sisters and this book is great! I only wish that they would publish it in American English as well. It was concise, easy to understand with small blurbs from other girls, and it didn’t overwhelm in the information that it gave. Honestly, I wish that I had this book when I was prepubescent because coming from a very religious household, many things weren’t told (or fully explained) to me like this book does. I often felt wrong or dirty for the things that I didn’t understand and I see the huge disservice done to me as a means of religious control. I’m gifting it to my little sisters and letting them know that I will always be around to talk and answer questions. When I gift it, though I’m going to give them a little list of translations for British English to American English so that they don’t get caught up on words like “loo,” “knickers,”, “rows,” etc.
