I read the second edition. While most is still applicable, as the book was written in 1998, I suspect the updated version would adjust some of the minor changes in the way that certain data is interpreted.

Overall, I was very impressed with the manner in which the book describes economic detail. Many books will go through the data's description. However, few will - after describing the data - continue further to address common misunderstandings and misconceptions.

For the most part, it does a good job of describing market reaction to various data points. I think in this regard, the market has shifted to give more focus on data points that were - in 1998 - of less interest. That said, I think that the over-emphasis on certain data points in the current period will change in the future. The more normalized interpretations which the book presents are far more valuable to the long term student of the markets.

There is one other book that I prefer for this topic. I gave this four stars, because I am partial another book, "The Secret of Economic Indicators".. Relative to this, the book is less organized and appears to address a more "edited" selection of economic data.
