Champ is a breadwinner on one of the highest levels in the drug game in Philadelphia. Although the game proves to be very profitable it is also full of Bad Blood. Through much tension and difficulty, Champ tries to keep his cool. However, the actions of his lifelong friend makes it close to impossible for him to do so. Despite the negativity associated with being in the drug game, Champ strives to remain of good character. They say good guys finish last but Champ aims to be the exception to the rule. The author, Tuffy, takes you on a vivid and edgy ride through the roughest streets of Philadelphia as Champ tries his hardest not to finish last. Brace yourself!
BAD BLOOD is a story of friendship and loyalty. It also tells of betrayal, friendships torn apart, and how far the remnants fall.
Ern, Champ, Bingo and Tone were childhood friends. Their friendship, more like a brotherhood, has grown and strengthened over the years. The senseless and tragic death of one, the unspoken leader, sends each man in his own direction, while still maintaining their friendship. However, the separation allows for envy and larceny to grow in the heart of one, triggering a series of events. One wrong move could mean disaster, or worse, death.
BAD BLOOD will grab you. It qualifies as a good read and a great first effort. There were some editing issues, though you can tell there was effort put forth. But Tuffy tells such an entertaining tale that you’ll overlook the flaws and keep reading on. Tuffy is what I call raw talent. He possesses obvious skill and talent, but he could use a little aid or guidance to bring out his full potential. With a solid and impressive debut, I expect to see great things from this author in the future. He’s definitely on my radar.
Friends suffer a devastating loss when one of their own is brutally murdered. Moving on is tough for all especially Mickey who has to face life without his dad Ern. Although he has love and support from his mother Sharon who tries her best to shield him from the pull of the streets, Mickey patterns himself after his dad’s loyal best friend, Champ. Champ is the king in the streets but creeps under the radar and is respected and loved by everyone. Champ, like Sharon also would prefer for Mickey to get a good education and make something of his life. When Tone, another friend begins to reveal his true colors, Mickey is driven to prove to all that he is not Ern and Sharon’s little boy anymore.
Friendship, loyalty, and jealousy are tested and scrutinized in this well written story.
Love Champ! Love Micky! Love Wanna! Hated Tone! Loved the cover which I believed complemented the story. The mask represents a hidden personality, where as there was plenty of blood shed. Excellent character development as we get a ringside seat inside the crazed mind of Tone.
Tone is an arrogant bastard and I felt that the fact that he woke up in the hospital only to find out he lost the use of one arm should have bothered… him at least at first. Making love to Sharon for the first time with one arm should have been awkward. I would have liked the author to have addressed that more prominently if only in Tone’s mind…of course Tone wouldn’t have wanted anyone to know that he was bothered by it! BUT, in the author’s defense, he did elevate Tone’s whole personality, regarding his reckless behavior, once he was released from the hospital.
This is definitely an entertaining read that had me turning the pages in awe of what Tone would do next!
With close attention to editing detail and keeping with the great character and story development this author is one to watch!
A recommended read.
