How To Rope A Ruthless Cowboy

Rate this book
Retired Navy Seal Medic and notorious womanizer Matt indulges his savior complex by moonlighting with Search and Rescue. This winter is shaping up to be a doozy, with weathermen warning of the upcoming snowstorm of the century, and sending Matt’s team into high alert.

When a call comes in, Matt’s the only one available to rescue the foolish woman who got her ass stuck on a mountain in the middle of an epic storm. He’s ready to tear a strip off her for heading into the back country unprepared.

But nothing could have prepared him for Kristy. She’s achingly beautiful, with fire in her eyes – and a death wish. Matt can’t deny his attraction to the sexy spitfire, but he vowed never to get involved with anyone this helpless ever again.

Trapped together in a remote cabin until the storm clears, and against his better judgment, Matt caves to the magnetic desire between them, never expecting that, instead of slaking his lust, their encounter will only leave him wanting more.

And when Kristy winds up needing once again to be rescued, can Matt save her, or will history repeat itself, ripping her violently out of his life forever?

So good, I couldn't put it down! I loved both these characters. Their histories are relatable and tragic but they are strong and together they are combustible! Kristy's confidence is inspiring;)  I needed a fan to get through the majority of the book - it was so steamy!

I'm hoping for book 10, I'm sooooo not ready to leave Silver Springs Ranch yet 🙏 Definitely looking forward to the other new releases coming soon!

MATT AND KRISTY

The story is the ninth book in the Silver Springs Ranch series. It will bring Matt to the rescue of Kristy, who got engulfed in childhood memories at her late Grandparent’s cabin on the mountain and is caught in a white-out blizzard.

Kristy lost her parents in an accident when she was around eight years old and was sent to live with her grandparents, on the mountain, and away from town. Until they were reported to social services, there was no electricity or indoor plumbing. While her grandparents enjoyed living off the grid, Kristy hated it. She discovered her parent’s will, which included substantial savings that would be hers when she went to college. With that bit of information, her love of computers and writing codes, at seventeen she went to college and began her life. Her grandparents were angry with her, and their relationship was severed.

The funeral for her grandmother included her, her friend, Penny, and the minister. Penny drove her to the cabin and reminded her to watch the weather because of a major system moving in. Now that her grandmother has passed away, she wants to collect some mementos and return back to town. Memories made her negligent of the time and weather conditions and when she tries to leave in her grandfather’s old truck, she has waited too long and finds herself trapped. She will call 911, give them her location and situation and they will send out search and rescue.

Matt left his position with the SEALS and now works in several part-time positions, including with search and rescue. When the call for a stranded motorist comes to them, he is the only one available. He is angry at the carelessness of women—and much of that goes to the death of his wife. He is a love-them-and-leave-them guy—not willing to get involved with another helpless woman. So when he gets to Kristy, he is already angry, worried he could lose her before he gets them to safety. That just sets this tale into motion.

The two characters are like oil and water, they clash big time for a day or so, but when they turn their loathing of each other off and the sexual chemistry on, they can’t get enough of each other. They are snowed in for about a week, and Matt needs to teach Kristy basic survival skills, but she detests the cabin, and being outdoors, and really doesn’t want to learn. Whether she wants to learn or not, he insists that she needs to know how to tend to the generators, fill them safely, and how to shoot, because of predator animals.

Overall, it is a good story BY THE END, but it was so overdone with sex scenes, one right after the other. If they are in the same room, they are having sex. I would have liked more character development, dialogue, and interaction that wasn’t sex-related, rather than just doing the nasty over and over and over and over again—less could have been more.

“He had to be careful with this woman. Because she could matter.”

I can’t believe this is the last Silver Springs Ranch book. I’m so sad. I have really loved this series and hate to see it end. I can’t believe this is the last time I’ll be with all the people I’ve grown to love. This series was a surprise for me as I’m not really fond of cowboy/western romances but I love Anya’s Eros series so I gave this series a try. I’m so happy I did as, like I said, I’ve just loved every single book.

Readers of the series knew this would be Matt’s book, his turn to finally find the love we all knew he truly wanted. Kristy was actually the obvious choice for him and I had already kind of predicted these two would end up falling in love. I never expected it to happen the way it did but I wasn’t surprised they were going to clash at first. Kristy was a much stronger, more independent woman than Matt ever could have imagined he’d fall for. Matt was exactly the strong, dominant, confident and dependable man Kristy needed and yearned for. Of course these two would be explosive together. I can’t believe it took them so long to really see each other since, especially since they have so many friends in common, not to mention their bffs are married to each other! Why didn’t anyone ever think to try and hook them up in the past?

My biggest complaint with their story was how much of a jerk Matt seemed at first towards her. That was not what I expected from him after everything I had read about him before. I always liked Matt and it bothered me a little that he was so mean to Kristy at first, especially since it really had nothing to do with her personally. Apparently she forced him to confront ghosts from his past that he’d never really healed from. Soon enough, though, the Matt I knew came through and became the wonderful man he really is. I also wish there had been a little more plot and that their relationship had evolved over more time. After the great set up in the cabin everything afterwards just seemed a bit rushed and almost too easy. Still, the book was enjoyable, the characters had great chemistry and everything worked out at the end. I do think as it was the last book there should have been a little more interaction with the couples from the prior books. Instead they were like cameo appearances with almost no dialogue. But maybe, in part, that’s because I just want more because this is the end…

Just like all the other books in the series, you can easily read this as a standalone, but really, where’s the fun in that?

And so it’s with a heavy heart I say goodbye to Silver Springs Ranch and all the people I’ve come to care about. I know in my heart you will all have happy futures together with love in your lives each and every day.

A simply riveting, action filled read that is impossible to put down once you begin reading

I have to be careful as I do not want to spoil the plot of this simply amazing book which I enjoyed every single moment of from start to finish. I have been fortunate enough to read the previous books and they were all magnificent and I would never have surmised it possible to improve and yet once again Anya Summers pulls a simply amazing story out of her wonderful authors imagination and put it all down on paper.

There has been a sudden blizzard that has individuals to have to stay in a cabin until the weather breaks and it is safe for them to make their way to civilisation. It is a beautiful location with a wealth of delightful animals wandering the hills and with the beautiful backdrop of the mountains and bushes and trees and ground covered in snow.

Inaccessible they know there is no choice but to wait otherwise trying to leave the cabin to make an attempt on reaching the town could easily lead to hypothermia and death and if you became lost it may mean that not even your body would be found.

As Kirsty and Matt spend their days together, they begin to reconnect and a steady flame is burning brighter and getting hotter along with their passion and feelings for each other, I know that you will love the way she had written their passion and his dominant lead when required. This was a truly enjoyable read and I guarantee that like me you will read it in one sitting, it is simply impossible to put down so be ready for a late but enjoyable night of reading.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

Talk about an unlikely couple. Kristy is a self-made, successful business woman who has returned for her grandmother’s funeral and to subsequently pack up her old cabin and forever leave the desolate place. She is completely full of herself and has little to no use for anyone trying to change anything about her. Matt is an equally self-confident, self-absorbed ex-Navy Seal who has absolutely no use for any woman in need of protection. They are initially forced together when Matt has to rescue her in a blinding blizzard. The weather is so bad the only place they can take shelter is in the old cabin that Kristy hates with a passion. Even worse, they are going to have to spend many days there until such time as snowplows from town can get thru to them. They DO NOT get along well. Both are strong willed and arrogant to the point of being obnoxious, and are unbelievably rude and nasty to each other. They are so single minded that you fear one might do harm to the other. They don’t like each other, but there is a definite sexual attraction that neither likes nor will admit to. So what are two angry people to do to fill up the time? Well, they have angry sex of course. The aggressiveness of the sex begins to temper the nastiness and a torrid relationship begins. Unfortunately the plow gets thru to them a few days later and their pig headed personalities emerge once more. I’ll tell you, you just want to give each of them a big shake! The reality is that both are just too insecure to speak of their true feelings first. Unbelievable! Can either of them ever give in, just a little, to save the relationship? Well, I guess that is why you really want to read through to the end. It’s quite a journey, super-frustrating but super-hot and an absolutely page-turning delight. 5 Stars

How to Rope a Ruthless Cowboy is book nine in the Silver Springs Ranch series. While characters from prior books make an appearance, this book is a standalone and is a forced proximity, enemies to lovers trope.

Matt is a former SEAL and works many part-time jobs, including search and rescue. Kristy works in the IT field and has just buried her grandmother and has returned to her childhood home in order to clean it in preparation to sell.

After losing track of time, Kristy finds herself needing a rescue after her grandfather's truck gets caught in a snow storm. Matt is the one sent out to rescue her. He has demons from his past which has caused him to become who he is - grumpy and a little self righteous about safety. Unfortunately (or fortunately), the two have to return to Kristy's grandparents' home in order to escape the storm.

Matt and Kristy are antagonistic towards one another. Kristy doesn't like being back in her grandparents' home as it reminds her of her unhappy childhood. Matt is angry about what he feels is Kristy's ineptitude. Underneath is a simmering attraction for one another.

Trapped in a small house, the two finally give in to their attraction for one another. Once it is safe for them to leave Kristy's grandparents' home, the two must decide if what they feel for one another can last beyond the heat of the storm. What will it take for them to admit they fell in love with one another? Will love be enough for them to let go of their respective pasts and hold on to one another?

I wasn't a fan of Matt in the beginning - too grumpy, too dictatorial, too snippy, too angry for the situation, too busy making assumptions about Kristy, too busy overlaying his past into his present and definitely too busy fighting his attraction to Kristy. By the end, I was rooting for them to get their HEA.

Another good read by Anya Summers.

This was a forced proximity enemies to lovers cowboy romance.a

I love every book I have read by this author. The female lead character in this book is strong and inspiring. The story is steamy and realistic. Highly recommend!

Kristy Walsh owns her own company designing and coding web sites and has down very well for herself. She is a spitfire and stubborn. She lost her parents at a young age and was raised by her grandparents in a mostly off grid mountain cabin. Her best friend Penny recently married Eli a retired Navy SEAL. Her grandmother just passed and left her the mountain cabin.

Matt is a retired Navy SEAL and medic. He works on the Silver Springs ranch and moonlights with Search & Rescue. He is a womanizer and has a savior complex. He is Eli's best friend.

They have met casually several times due to their friendships with Penny and Eli but don't really know each other. Penny goes up to the mountain cabin to take inventory and gets stuck during a massive snowstorm. Matt is the only one available to help her and goes to her rescue. They clash immediately - she thinks he has the personality of an enraged, constipated bear; he thinks she is helpless and resents wasting time with having to save her. They end up having another nasty argument and hook up. They spend a majority of their time in bed until they are rescued by his friend Duncan. Three days after dropping her at her home, Matt goes to her house to talk, they reconcile and start an exclusive relationship. He almost blows everything when she accidentally tells him how she feels. Angry, she goes up to the cabin to pack up the things she plans to keep. She gets attacked by a mountain lion and Matt and Duncan rush her to the hospital. He realizes his feelings, proposes and they get their HEA.

'How to Rope a Ruthless Cowboy' is the ninth book in Anya Summers' "Silver Springs Ranch" series. This time we meet Kristy and Matt. If you've read the blurb then you know Matt is a "playboy" who refuses to get involved emotionally with another helpless woman after losing his. He still carries a lot of unresolved feelings over that situation. He's a retired Seal Medic who, among other things, volunteers with the local Search and Rescue team. Kristy, whose parents were killed in an accident when she was younger, was raised by her grandparents up in the mountains off the grid. While they enjoyed their lifestyle, Kristy hated it. So when she found her parents' will stating they had left her a substantial amount of money if she went to college and combined that with her hatred of the mountain and her love of computers and writing code, she was out of there. That decision, unfortunately, severed the relationship between the granddaughter and grandparents. Now she's returned to the mountain for the funeral and to gather mementos from the cabin. After losing track of time and the incoming storm, she leaves in her grandfather's old truck which ultimately broke down. Of course, as fate would have it when the call came for her to be rescued, Matt was the only one who could take the call. And that starts this enemy-to-lovers collision course. It's fast-paced, erotically hot whenever they are together, and filled with all the angst that comes with this trope. There was a bit of self-discovery on both parts for these characters but not much. Overall, it was a good read.

Kristy Walsh had just buried her grandmother, and she was going to take a few minutes to look over the cabin before heading home. She knew a terrible snow storm was coming in, and it would be worse as high up in the mountains as she was. Time got away from her as she traveled down that awful memory lane. Snow had started by the time she left in grandpa's old truck. She did not make it far before hitting a limb in the road stopping her from going forward or backwards. She only had enough charge on her phone to call for help and hope someone got there in time. Matt from Search and Rescue was sent to get her in white out conditions. When he got to Kristy the storm was so bad. They had no choice but to return to the cabin where they spent the next several days. They knew each other from their bestfriends wedding, but you would have thought, they were mortal enemies. Matt carried on like he had some broom up his butt, because he was up on the mountain saving some city woman that should have known to stay home. He was needed more down in town with the tourists. He ordered her around like she was in the military, but she was as strong willed and independent as a woman could be having been on her own, since she was seventeen, being she would hand his some his talk right back to him. The angst was heavy driving them both crazy with the sexual tension sky rocketing in the air. Enjoy this fantastic story as Matt and Kristy discover the reasons behind each other's actions. Hot sensual sex scenes might over heat your tablet.

Excellent

Loved everything about the series and a brilliant, Thrilling and romantic and plenty of cowboys in Silver Springs Ranch. Nothing goes smoothly in Silver Springs winter's are hard and summers are scorchers. Meet Kirsty, independent woman owns her own business and does well for herself loves coding and loves the technology but not so much on the outdoors that thrills Kirsty. Relaying on only herself has she has learnt the hardway with her passed catching up. The storm coming and they are saying it will be bad, unfortunately for mother nature Kirsty has to return to the cabin where she left when she was 17 years old. Her grandmother passed and she had to sort out the cabin. But what possibly could go wrong!
Matt retired Navy Seal, alpha male and works on the ranch but also does search and rescue service voluntary as a form to keep his medic skills and training at the for front. The winter blizzard is definitely coming and he was the only person left without a rescue until the phone call came through a woman stranded in the path of the storm. Enjoyed the characters and story and the whole series not to be missed

Kristy has inherited her grandparents cabin in the woods after her grandmother's death, she lives in town as she couldn't wait to get out of the wilderness as soon as she could. However, while sorting through her grandparents belongings, she doesn't realise the approaching storm has come so quickly. She tries to make it back down the mountain, but gets stuck and has to call for help.
Matt is an ex-SEAL, he works for Silver Ridge ranch but also volunteers for the search and rescue team. He ends up going out on the call to help Kristy and they end up sheltering in her grandparents cabin.
They clash a lot, but could that be because they are soo attracted to each other. After realising they are going to be spending a few days in each other's company, they end up giving into their attraction. But what happens when they leave, will they confess their true feelings for each other and if they do, will it end with a HEA.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.

This is a raunchy read if you want it just for that. However, I didn’t really connect with the characters. In pretty well the first scene, Kristy made some choices that made her TSTL. While Matt was a good looking dude, it didn’t make up for his personality IMHO. He was demanding, overbearing and unreasonable. In one scene he gets angry at Kristy for not making breakfast since he was outdoors loading up firewood. Since she had helped load firewood the day before and there was no discussion about allocation of duties, I thought his anger was unwarranted.
I think the story could have also benefited from a more aggressive edit. It is told in 3rd person. So when the author addressed the reader with the phrase “We’re talking … (mega PMS.)”, it really threw me. Also, the fact that they needed firewood to survive the storm was repeated multiple times.

Loving the Silver Springs Ranch series more with each book!
I feel for Kristy as she now inherits the home she grew up in with the death of her grandmother that she escaped as soon as she could growing up. But a trip down memory lane lands her in trouble with a fast moving snowstorm that strands her on the road. Matt of Search and Rescue has the necessary equipment to get to Kristy and he makes the decision to head back to Kristy’s cabin. Thankfully, there is plenty of fuel for the generator, wood, food and alcohol to snuggle up during the storm. The sparks are flying off the the two of them as they succumb to their desires. Yet when finally rescued, it seems the happy nesters are anything but happy. Will Matt’s reason for not wanting to repeat history keep him away from Kristy? Or when the chips are down, will he come out the victor? You have to read to find out and don’t expect to put the book down until you turn the last page!

I love this series and this has to be one of my favorites in it. Kristy is back home after her Grandma passed and left her the cabin. She plans to just pack up what she wants and head back home but the predicted storm arrives earlier than planned. When she gets stuck driving down the mountain, Matt is the one who is sent out to find and rescue her. Of course, you know they are going to have to go back to the cabin to hunker down. Both of their attitudes made me laugh at times because you KNOW they are secretly attracted to each other but scared to do anything about it. Will that change the longer they are in the cabin? I just loved this story so much. The angst, the emotions, the heat.........it's all there. But in returning home, will they stay together or will their actions keep them apart?

Matt loves his life working with search and rescue and at the clinic in town, he feels fulfilled when he is helping people, but when he is called out to help a stranded motorist stuck on the mountain, he feels his time is wasted on someone who just wasn't thinking or planned very well. Kristy is in the last place she ever wanted to be, the house she was raised after her parents died, but it's her job to clean out the place and sell it as fast as she can, but time got away from her and now she's waiting to be rescued from a place she doesn't want to be and a man that scrapes her last nerve.

I devoured this book, the characters, story, and heat just pull you into that cabin with the snow and fire burning. Very worth the time to read.

Our heroine has a knack of getting herself into trouble and our hero comes to her rescue more than once. Maybe he is better off sticking close just to save her from herself.

This is book nine of a series, but each book is written as a standalone. No issues starting here.

This is a contemporary romance with a cowboy and military theme. The story is well written and easy to read with a well developed cast that draw you in from the start. The immediate attraction between our hero and heroine was obvious and the chemistry was excellent, making them perfect foils for each other. I really enjoyed watching our hero's frustration over our heroine and the resulting steam (yeah, figure that one out). Overall, it was a highly enjoyable read and I look forward to more from this author.

Highly recommended.

Force of Nature 5 stars. - Kristy and Matt know each other but until a snowstorm forced them together in a remote cabin, they didn’t know they were made for each other. The way they argued with each other was something else. It was something I’ve never read in a romance book before. Sure, there were couples who were enemies to lovers but they were at maximum, sniping at each other wittily. Matt and Kristy were not mincing any words. It was raw, only to be matched with their intense sex encounters. What happens after they are back in town feels realistic when it comes to the pacing of their romance. I like their story! I got off to a rocky start with this book. I DID NOT like this hero in the beginning. Matt displayed all the traits I dislike in bully romance, and I badly wanted to rescue Kristy from his presence. But then the confined space started working its magic on him and I could see that so much of that jerk-like behavior was part of his defense mechanisms. I loved Kristy. She’s fierce and independent, and I could completely sympathize with her urban homebody tendencies. I really liked that, as a pair, these two pushed each other to become their best selves. I’ve come to love the characters of Silver Springs Ranch so much. I kind of hate to think we may have reached the end.

Kristy has just lost her grandmother, so she heads to the cabin to get started on what she wants to keep. She heads out when the snow starts only to get stranded. Matt being part of the rescue team goes out to rescue her. They have not choice but to try and get back to the cabin and wait out the blizzard. They fight like cats and dogs but then decide to call a truce to get through the time stranded. Only now that truce leads to them passing the time with eachother. Their chemistry is off the charts. But can Matt give her what she wants? Can she be what Matt needs? This book was amazing. Just like the others. You wont be disappointed reading this one.

He thinks she's helpless, and he resents being sent up the mountain in a blizzard to save her. In the end, it's him that is helpless to resist Kristy. She's a force unto herself, and not until he almost loses her does he admit how much she has come to mean to him.

This is the final book in the series, which made me sad to hear, but wow. The author is taking it out with a bang. This is the hottest book I've read this year, and I've read many. The enemies to lovers and forced proximity stories have been done, but not like this! I read it in one sitting because I couldn't put it down, and it is so very much worth the one click.

Holy Kristy/Matt- alicious! They’re an
unabashedly, hotly filthy couple together. Their emotions and lust take them beyond their normal one night stands and exposes them to feelings of connection. Matt has difficulty expressing himself, leaving the couple’s future at risk.

Anya’s couples always have an intense attraction and she writes THE best sex scenes!! Matt and Kristy are fiery together, she’s not afraid to say what she wants in the bedroom and he appreciates her honesty. The HEA is well deserved and beautifully written!.

Wow oh wow was this one heck of a ride! Matt and Kristy start of very much as enemies and it is intense! But you know what they say about it being a fine line between love and hate…these two have about the thinnest line out there. The book has some amazing dialogue, not so closed door scenes, and some crazy situations that keep you on your toes. It was captivating watching the transition from enemies to lovers and I really liked that they both took responsibility for some of their mistakes. An over all intense ride with these two and I was sad it when it ended.

Matt and Kristy will warm your hearts and have you in their corner cheering for them. She has gone to the cabin her grandmother left her to gather some things when a storm hit preventing her from coming back to town. Matt is sent to rescue her, and sparks ignite between them. Over the course of time spent together feelings begin to set in but they are fighting their attraction to each other. They both have issues from their past. When Kristi gets stuck in a snowstorm, Matt comes to her rescue, but with a lot of preconceived ideas of her. She is s selfish, foolish, air head who takes foolish, dangerous risks. He couldn't be more wrong about her. But this is how their "relationship" starts and it goes down hill from there. These two are fire and ice, but with an undeniable chemistry. The story has great pace, sizzle, steam, action, drama, and more. A great addition to the Silver Springs Ranch series and another great read from Anya Summers.

Kristy grandmother had died and she went up the cabin to get started on separating what she wanted. She stayed too long and got stuck in the snow on the way down the mountain. Who is the one that comes to save her, Matt, who is a notorious womanizer.

The two end up stuck in the cabin due to the weather. They spar constantly until they give into the explosive chemistry between them. Is this just to ride out the storm or will they have something more when they leave the cabin?

These two were evenly matched, she does not give him an inch, which probably fanned the attraction between them.

Kristy is packing up her late grandmother's cabin when she is caught by a snowstorm on her way back to town She gets a message out to the emergency services just before her cell phone dies. She is close to hyperthermia when ex SEAL Matt from search and rescue arrives to rescue her. They head back to the cabin but Kristy doesn't take well to Matt telling her what she has to do to help them survive.

This couple seems to be at loggerheads and the timing of them being rescued after being trapped in the cabin by the storm doesn't help.

I loved this book by Anya Summers! It was so hot and steamy. Matt and Kristy had been outside each other's orbits until Kristy got stuck in a cabin on the mountain and Matt had to save her. He was a real alphahole during the process because of past trauma. Kristy wasn't excited to be stuck in her grandparent's cabin after her grandmother died, too many bad memories. Cue the sparks and hotness. I'm surprised the snow outside didn't melt with how hot it was. Matt and Kristy finally opened up about their past trauma's and got their HEA so that makes me happy. Can't wait for the next book!.

How to Rope a Ruthless Cowboy is an explosive, adrenaline-inducing romance with suspense added by nature - a blizzard, a remote cabin with wild animals roaming around and two hot-blooded, no-stranger-to-hookups acquaintances forced to hole up together. It's burning hot like the wood in the fireplace, nerve-chilling as the snow on the ground and heart-warming like the comfort food they make. A wonderful addition to the series with a HEA to match.

They say that love and hate are two sides of the same coin and for Kristen and Matt that was very true. Being stranded in a cabin in the mountains was Kristy’s nightmare and being trapped with grumpy Matt didn’t help until it did. The chemistry between them was explosive and hate turned to love but saying it nearly derailed them. Then there was nature which Kristy only liked when she was inside looking out, it was determined to derail them, but they were too strong and love prevailed. A great addition to the series.
