Rev. Cahal B. Daly was born at Loughguile, Co. Antrim and studed at St. Malachy's College, Belfast, at Queen's University, Belfast, at Maynooth and in Paris. He was ordained at Maynooth in 1941. He obtained his D.D. at Maynooth in 1944 for a study on "Tertullian the Puritan and his Influence". He obtained his L.Ph at the Institut Catholique, Paris, in 1953. He has been lecturer in Scholastic Philosophy in Queen's University since 1946 and was appointed Reader in 1962. He was a Peritus of the Second Vatican Council. He has been Chairman of Christus Rex, a society of Irish priests for social study and action, since its inception in 1941. He has written Morals, Law and Life (Dublin 1962); a chapter in (Londond 1961); and articles on theological (chiefly patristic), on philosophical and on moral subjects, with special reference to contemporary British ethics and linguistic philosophy, and to existentialism, chiefly in the Irish Theological Quarterly and in Philosophical Studies.
