How could two people interested in the same hotel disagree so violently, Cara wondered. She had looked forward to working there; now the job was a misery.

"You don't understand any human feelings, do you?" she asked Mark contemptuously. "You'd even marry a woman you didn't love just to perpetuate your snobbish traditions."

Well, somehow she must get through the next few weeks -- knowing that the man she loved was interested only in the hotel!

Paint by number contrivance where author has hero spend all his time with OW then revealing in the last few pages it was heroine all along. We are supposed to believe that hoteliers like the hero must play up to demanding, glamorous female guests in order to keep business running smoothly. This includes letting the OW monopolize you at dinner, gush over you and act all possessive and proprietarial when it is the heroine who is supposed to be your fiancee. He had no qualms humiliating his fiancee in front of their guest as long as OW was kept happy. Instead of telling off the OW once and for all, his priority is to keep her satisfied and probably many many more OW hotel guests to come. So basically a step away from being a gigolo. BARF!
