This text stresses logical thinking and program design independently of a particular computer language. The authors present methods of structured problem-solving and modular logic so that students can become conversant with these skills before learning syntax and programming code in a specific language. Various design tools, such as flow charts, IPO diagrams, and hierarchy charts, enhance explanations and compare different problem-solving techniques. In this edition, the authors have included more material on data types, Loop Whiles and reports generated with page numbers and control breaks.
