Ilya Chashnik (1902–1929) is one of the most outstanding artists of the early twentieth century. As a student and colleague of Kazimir Malevich, he developed his own version of Suprematism, opening up new spaces in this radical, profoundly intellectual and spiritual Russian avant-garde movement. Despite his premature death, the artist left behind numerous works of art―paintings, prints, sculptures, and architectural projects―whose wealth of ideas, freshness, and boldness continue to surprise us.With an introduction by the renowned avant-garde expert Alexandra Shatskikh, this is the first publication to present the ninety-eight works on paper by Chashnik that have been in the possession of the Sepherot Foundation in Liechtenstein since 2010, currently the largest private collection of works by Ilya Chashnik.
