Absolutely one of the worst true crime books I've ever read. It's riddled with typos and grammatical errors, and takes the bizarre editorial decision to treat the narrative as if reporting on the various stages of a film or TV production, lending the whole thing an air of authorial frippery that it doesn't deserve.
There is no attempt to analyse or place the events within any larger context, simply chapter after chapter of copy-pasted transcripts that haven't even been neatened up to aid readability-- as if every 'um', 'uh', or wandering off into irrelevant discussions is somehow necessary to understand the story, rather than just the product of a lazy author rattling off a quickie cash-in -- squeezed in between breathless, over the top tabloid descriptions that hit every stereotype in the Murdoch Fish Wrapper Manual.
I read this while trapped inside my house during a cyclone, without power, by battery-powered lantern, and *still* almost gave up in favour of lying in the dark listening to my fences being torn down. An absolute junk job.

one afternoon i was taking the best shit of my life, while i opened up a dusty old book the missus got me. i rather jump off a cliff surrounded by sharks than read one more page of that garbage. i only gave interest in reading this piece of shit to get my girlfriends pussy tonight, i told her it was amazing, in reality i rather watch cement harden up just like my cock.

Before reading this book, I was an ignorant fool. I had no ambition and lived everyday watching the Jerry Springer show.
That all changed when I chanced upon this hidden gem of a book.
Eavesdropping on evil is truly a masterpiece of underground journalism. The cases were chilling to the bone and I found myself audibly gasping as I read with morbid curiosity. I never understood the expression 'Jaw-dropping' until I stumbled across this fantastic piece.
From that day on, I made it my mission to pursue the work of Wayne Howell: the last of the great 20th century writers.

Couldn't finish it because it was so badly written - even the audio CD was irritating - but I enjoyed learning about the history of police in Australia

I have spent the last 5 years of my life travelling the globe searching for the fountain of youth. I had gathered many clues, and they all lead me to a dungeon beneath the colleseum. There I met a strange man with a beard down to his knees, hovering mid air with his legs crossed. I asked him about the fountain of youth, but he said my search would be fruitless, and the fountain had been destroyed. He instead directed me to this book, stating that it could fulfil my dream of eternal youth.
Upon reading this book, i ascended. I no longer age. My health is no longer a worry. Its words guide me, allowing me to bend reality to my will. If you too desire to be enlightened, I urge you to read this book

I read this book with my great grandma Pete and let me tell you she almost died in the hospital bed, we have always had a thing for reading murder mysteries together since she killed my dad. This book was terrible, the plot twist was terrible and lets start with the basics, names start with capital letters. eavesdropping on evil more like evil droppings. I would rather set myself on fire with a match

Not very well written, and way too much transcript from listening devices. Could have been a really interesting book. What a shame.
