Dinosaurs fighting
Are so exciting
There's a lot of biting
And stegosaur tails smiting
But there are also some dubious statements in the book, and even worse, there's this description of the image on page 9:
"A group of hunters squabbles over the carcass of a rhyncosaur. Although Dromaeosaurus could easily catch prey, it would also feed on carrion."
DS#2 (age 5) informed me that this caption was wrong: Rhyncosaurs lived in the Triassic, and Dromaeosaurs in the Cretaceous.
Now, it's possible that the author or his editorial team was playing fast and loose with the illustrations - while we're given the strong impression that one of the dinosaurs arguing over the rhyncosaur's remains is a Dromaeosaurus, it's not explicitly stated. However, though much of the target audience of a book like this can't read, they still should be treated with respect.
DD#2 (age 3) listened intently, but thought it was a bit too violent. "Don't eat my sister", she told a Herrarasaurus munching on an Eoraptor.

My son loves dinosaurs and he really liked this book. He knew most of the dinosaurs in this book and loved seeing new ones. It wasn't a fun read for me though.
