This book was a great book to learn about babies and how long they the parents watched them before they are on their own. Its a good book and kids can learn many things from it. I didnt know that elephant babies weigh more than 200 pounds. Also that polar bears are blind when they are born in the winter and then in the summer they can see. There is alot of fun facts about different animals and I liked how the author included humans in it on how they watched their children.

More detail on the relationship of various animals with their parents (particularly mothers, hence the title) than I expected. My 2.5 yo enjoyed it and listened patiently to each word. It does say ages 2-5 inside cover, but I wouldn't expect younger children to fully comprehend.
