While this book highlights some of the more scandalous episodes, it is quite short and lacking depth. Much like this review.

OK, this needs some explaining. This isn't a bad piece but it just needs more of something to be considered a great piece. Is it wrong to mark down a book with this title as "too political"? That's sort of where I am on this.

We've had government for 400 years and let's be honest, no one is surprised if they read a MP is corrupt or some inbred halfwit and the fourth of his name. There's bound to be 1000s of great stories and moreso if we look overseas.

This is sadly a bit brief and most of them seem to be from the expenses scandal. For example, Hazel Blears did put through some dodgy expenses but one of the worse MP's ever? Many felt a bit sorry for her as she was stitched up by Brown at the time. This is ignored and she's hauled across the coals for expenses...something which gets a bit boring as nearly half of the entrants are entirely on the list because they claimed for second homes or duck houses or dry rot. We get it but I fail to believe two thirds of all the worse MP's we ever had were active in 1997! We would have lined them all up is that the case.

I would like to read a book of the crap MP's but I'm thinking of MP's that were jailed, that were embroiled in full on scandal, who never attended parliament or just seemed to be, well, crap.

When this edition did drift into the historic, if anything it presented tragic figures who stood up to the royal family and were killed for treason. One of them was even beatified so doesn't fully fulfil the criteria of "crap".

It's a nice gift and it's by no means a bad book...just not enough depth or detail to the topic and many of the entrants seem personal opinions of the author and who they liked or disliked.

facinating, some of these characters should have movies made of them, well some already have but others should too. ooooooo i got this free with i think it was the telegraph newspaper, it was meant to come with the complete expenses which actually was what i really wanted but due to undisclosed legal issues this was all that came, still its good book, and nice and small too though the hardcover is really un-needed.
