The German Shepherd Dog In Word And Picture

Rate this book
Originally published in Germany in 1923. This is the English edition translated by J. Schwabacher. Probably the most important book ever published on this popular breed. The illustrated contents include: The Shepherd dog and Herdsman s dog, their Origin and Relationship The Nature and Service of the Shepherd Dog Breeding Rearing Judging Training Kennels etc. Many of the earliest dog books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. Vintage Dog Books are republishing many of these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.

A very nice book if you want to read about the history of the German Shepherd breed. Contains great bits of knowledge for the enthusiast how wants to dig a little deeper. This is the definitive old work. But it also feels really old in style and some of the breed information. The 'biology' theory is also dated at times.
