Ani is a fiercely independent woman trying hard not to fall for the charms of Outcrop, OR or her handsome boss, Hunter. Temporary boss! She’s determined to move on after a few weeks.
Setting - the adorable small town of Outcrop. Picture the downtown set of Gilmore Girls, then add a popular restaurant and a sprawling horse ranch just outside of town.
Main Characters - both Ani and Hunter are dealing with self doubt, issues from their past. Hunter is a giver and Ani is trying her best to stay independent. Did I mention he’s a super cute cowboy? Hat and all?
Favorite quote: “Do you want me to start running with scissors? Because you seem to need a reminder of the kind of woman you’re dealing with.”
I’ve read a few books in this series and will finish them all. I’ve also bought Anna Grace’s other titles. She a favorite of mine.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Rules. And more rules. Some can't live without them. Then some think rules are not for them. What happens when those two come together?
Ani doesn't do rules. She was a commodity to her family and was only good enough if she won the trophies. When she disobeyed her father and he broke her heart, she left her family, her mean girl status, and her life of ultra wealth.
Hunter abides by rules. There is a rule for everything. His perception of his life is he is a great disappointment to his family. He works super long hours trying to make them proud of him and what he is doing for the betterment of his community. His sisters have a great idea for him and give him a present. That present is Ani who will paint the mural for his new community center.
Their initial meeting is like a lead balloon when he orders her off his property. Ani needs the money as her battery for her travel van quit. She wants to leave but his sisters insist she stay. Hunter has to apologize when he finds out his sisters hired her. There are many heated moments where Ani knows how to do things like putting food into a deep fryer but Hunter has rules. You need to be trained and have a certificate to work in his restaurant. Anything Ani can do, Hunter has a rule. It has to be legal. Such great dialogue and interaction as they navigate working together.
Ani's heart breaks when she goes to the barn and finds the horses. She misses the horse that her father took away from her. She can't forgive her family even though they keep trying to apologize and have her in their lives.
The attraction between the two of them is mutual but Ani insists she is leaving. Hunter has a hard time dealing with that as he realizes she makes him complete.
Both Hunter and Ani grow as individuals, together and with family. Hunter's family is all about love whereas Ani's family is all about wealth and status. Can the love shown by Hunter's family help Ani heal and return the love she has for Hunter? Or will she keep running?
The author has done a great job of insight into how an adult perceives their lives now from how they were raised and how their perception of their childhood impacts them as an adult.
Finally, Hunter's story! And a Christmas story to boot?! Yes, please!
Hunter's adorable and sometimes mischievous matchmaking sisters Clara and Piper have finally found the perfect Christmas gift for their brother. Enter Ani Blaisedell: free-spirited, wanderlust artist hired to paint a mural at Hunter's restaurant in time for the big Bend Equestrian Society (BES) Gala in a few weeks.
Little does Hunter know that the woman hired to help him is the very same one he chastises for parking her van in his restaurant parking lot. Despite the instant attraction, Ani doesn't appreciate the less than warm welcome from Hunter and wants to do what she does best: leave. Unfortunately, Ani's broken down van is staying in Outcrop, Oregon with her attractive new boss she can't stand (whether she likes it or not).
Meanwhile, Ani starts work on the mural and takes on additional work at Hunter's restaurant in order to pay for a new battery for her van. Working with Hunter is different than what she thought, and they both come to find a new appreciation of each other. Ani, who Hunter thought was a rich, spoiled, and entitled brat, works just as hard as him and is able to even complete remodeling tasks in addition to her artistic work. Ani, who sees another side of her boss--the one who makes her special coffee, makes sure she's cared for, and always cooks her delicious food--thought that being a local is definitely not a compliment, begins to wonder what it would be like to stay with the hometown hero.
But when Holly Banks from the BES shows up at 80 local, Ani is rude and for reasons unknown to Hunter, disappears. After his initial frustration, Hunter begins to discover that Ani has a former life she's running from. And, according to her, Outcrop is just another stop on that journey. Will Hunter be able to convince her to face her past so she can have a future with him or will the free-spirited girl keep running?
He loves rules, she breaks them. He loves his home, she runs from hers. This book had my heart and I love a strong man that falls for an even stronger woman. Highly recommend!
Another in the Love, Oregon series, in which Ani Blaisedell (not her real name) is still running from the family whose values she has rejected. When her van breaks down, she takes a job helping Hunter Wallace in his restaurant and the newly-built additional structure which is being readied for a gala that Hunter hopes will put his restaurant on the map throughout Oregon and the western coast.
But what he wants isn't want Ani is comfortable with, that is, until their respective attraction for each other becomes the complication that threatens Ani's plan to get back on the road as soon as the battery for her van arrives. When she does leave, both are conflicted. Who will come for the other? Or are their feelings just not enough to create what seemed like a great match, according to Hunter's matchmaker sisters?
This was a fun book to read for the Christmas holiday 🎄.!
This story centers around a woman named Ami Blaisedell who is used to living on the road. She used to be a former mean girl. However her van 🚐 breaks down in a town called Outcrop, Oregon. Ani takes a job helping a guy named Hunter Wallace remodel his restaurant for a Christmas gala. She clashes with Hunter the first time they meet. He is rude to her because she is parked on his property. After they get to know each other sparks fly between them. This story was a grumpy/sunshine story. This book was funny and sweet and I enjoyed reading it.
I loved opening the cover of Her Hometown Christmas and finding myself back in the parking lot of Eighty Local. Within a few pages three members of the Wallace family have met the artist who has parked her van and mayhem ensues. Before the first chapter ends I find myself smiling and then laughing and experiencing an overwhelming desire for an espresso and sweet potato fries.
Absolutely fabulous story from Anna. Ani and Hunter couldn’t be more different (Hunter has never met a rule he doesn’t like and hardworking Ani is a rule breaker running from her well to do family who see her as a commodity rather than a human). Sparks fly between these two and I loved them both. I loved that we get to see Hunter’s family again and the small town setting is perfection!
This has been my favorite Love, Oregon book so far. I'm amazed how much Anna can pack into such a (relatively) short-form novel. The increased vulnerability and emotional complexity of the characters in Her Hometown Christmas really drew me in. I really liked than Ani was less straightforward than previous characters.
