Dick Tracy gets back to his roots in this volume with some good, solid policework, teaming up with the people in his department to fight crime. The storylines are riveting, about a crooked art dealer, a man out for revenge after being fired from a prominent position, and about crooked landlords and the arsonist they employ. There is the usual cast of colorful characters, and it's nice to see old friends return, in Diet Smith and Vitamin Flintheart. The artwork does justice to the legacy that Chester Gould established. A first-rate volume in every way.

An entire year's worth of Tracy's adventures (originally published in the newspaper Jan. 6, 1980-Jan. 17, 1981) featuring three new villains: Art Deco, Breakdown, and Torcher. Perhaps not as good as those from the Chester Gould era, but entertaining none the less.
