A Lesson Learned

Rate this book
All relationships have their ups and downs. All relationships have good days and bad days. No relationship is perfect. No relationship is easy - everyone knows that. Neil pursued Anna, stalked her in a way. When Anna did eventually meet Neil, and began a relationship with him, she found he was very different to anyone she'd ever been involved with, he was older, quite unique and intriguing. Neil came across as the 'perfect gentleman' - and sometimes he was. Sometimes he could be so considerate and attentive, that people told Anna she was 'lucky to have such a kind and caring man in her life'. However, no one knows what goes on behind closed doors. It was all for show, in front of other people. Cracks started to appear in the relationship and Anna had her suspicions that all was not what it seemed. She doubted Neil's integrity - but nobody is perfect and she gave him the benefit of the doubt. When Anna was involved in a car accident, Neil showed his true colours, and she realised what a cold, uncaring individual he really was. Neil had a Jekyll & Hyde character, which Anna initially put down to him having a stressful occupation. In company, Neil came across as a fun guy and he could be very witty and entertaining - which people loved. What nobody knew, he also had a surreptitious past - that only became evident some years after he and Anna had bought a house together and Neil was spending money they didn't have. One night, a phone call to Anna, from someone in Neil's past - opened her eyes to the person he really was, and Anna realised she didn't really know Neil at all. It was a long and arduous journey to escape from the relationship, and Anna paid the price. For many years, she was left mentally and physically drained, and still carries some battle scars. Events within this book did actually happen. This is Anna's story.
