They Died in Silence: A Woman Steps Forward

Rate this book
THEY DIED IN SILENCE IS MARIA'S STORY. It's also the story of the brave American and British soldiers whom she met, and sometimes watched die, during these crucial, historical events. Congruently, it incompasses one of the most clever and valiant Jews in history. The Nazis force Maria and the American Dawes Team into the Carpathian Mountains. The remainder of the Czechoslovakian defeated Army joins Maria and the group and together they travel through the mountains where eighty three men are frozen to death and hundreds more are killed and captured by the Nazies.

My husband loved this book, so I read it. I rated it a 4 because it was a true story and taught me about Czechoslovakia and affirmed again that the Russian government has never been our friend. It was not polished writing, but loved her story.
