This is a review for Barefoot by R V Bayley, a New Zealand writer. This book is not listed on Goodreads so I have highjacked another of her titles.
Spare reflective descriptions. I loved the writing.
A sensitive meditation on wars futile damage on bodies and minds seen through the eyes of a newly married couple. A woman’s place in conservative New Zealand is at the mercy of men’s violence. Hope however, comes from a good man and the healing power of fishing.
