About the author

Author of over forty romance novels, Emily Mims combined her writing career with a career in public education until leaving the classroom to write full time. In addition to eighteen Candlelight Ecstasy Romances under the pen name 'Emily Elliott', she has written two series under her own name, the Texas Hill Country series and the Smoky Blue series, and has completed four books in the Durango Street Theatre series. The mother of two sons and grandmother to six, she and her husband Charles split their time between San Antonio and their lake home in the Texas Hill Country, and make frequent trips to Tennessee to see grandchildren. When not busy at the word processor, she plays the piano, organ and dulcimer. She plays her ukulele with two singing groups and has even been known to sing a song or two at the mic. She says, "I love to write romances because I believe in them. Romance happened to me and it can happen to any woman-if she'll just let it."

Let me tell you how great of a writer Emily Mims is. Due to my own personal issues, I generally avoid books featuring men in uniform. However, because I've loved all of her other works, I decided to give the Bear's Brigade series a chance. And I LOVED IT! Bear is a tough and sexy hero who's not a jerk, and Felicia is a strong heroine who gives as good as she gets.
Plus, more characters were introduced that have already lured me into getting the next book!

Bear & Felica aren't what you call traditional. Sparks can be felt flying as we read. The reason Felica kept holding back did annoy me even if was kind of understandable. Family bonds, suspense & chemistry filled the pages from the start to end.

Absolutely a must ready this entertaining romance keeps you engaged and it’s hard to put down. The strong characters are well written and show that gender roles are indeed interchangeable and that love can happen for anyone. Can’t wait to see where their story takes us!!!

Very good read. Just the right amount of mystery and suspense mixed in with romance. Great to see how the characters dealt with the mutual trauma in their lives and how they turned to each other.
