This is not a book I would pick up for pleasure reading, but a book for one of my courses I am taking. The first three chapters are dense and tiring, but the remaining four chapters improve. I appreciate the index and the footnotes in the book. It's a necessary read and introduction to science from a humanist perspective.

Πολύ ενδιαφέρον και επίκαιρο θέμα, ίσως ένα που δεν αγγίζεται συχνά πλέον στην εποχή μας λόγω του φόβου που μπορεί να έχουν πολλοί επιστήμονες μην στοχοποιηθούν από "πολιτικά ορθώς" άκρα οποιουδήποτε πολιτικού/ιδεολογικού φάσματος.
Η δομή του βιβλίου είναι κάπως πρωτότυπη, σα να ακολούθησε ο συγγραφέας το δικό του τρόπο γραφής που είναι εμπνευσμένος, μάλλον, από επιστημονικά βιβλία των θετικών επιστημών.
Η ελληνική μετάφραση που εκδόθηκε το 1992 δεν είναι και πολύ ποιοτική: έχει αρκετά λάθη, ο μεταφραστής παρεμβαίνει αρκετά με προσωπικά σχόλια στο κείμενο και ως εκ τούτου υποθέτω ότι έχει αρκετές δικές του πινελιές η μετάφραση, όπου υπήρξε χώρος για πιο ελεύθερη απόδοση.
Καλύτερα να διαβάσετε το πρωτότυπο αν ξέρετε αγγλικά.

Disappointing. I have trouble taking any book on epistemology seriously when there's no acknowledgement of the limitations of the book's own "truth." While I agree with the basic premise--science is not perfect--I think the argument could have been much stronger. I will deliberately be a bad reviewer and leave out examples because I just don't have time.
