I'm now a fan of Jennifer Leeland. She's really good at getting inside the head of the Hero and sussing out what motivates him.

David spies Lee at a bar. Every week he watches her and seeks a way to approach her without spooking her. Lee is a submissive to the core, but has abandoned the BDSM lifestyle after breaking off an emotionally and physically abusive relationship with a barbaric Dom named Barry. What follows is how David offers her a 30-day contract to reeducate her about how a healthy BDSM relationship should be.

A BDSM book with lots of heart and an emphasis on the healing potential of a successful relationship. Lee has been abused by a previous Dom and promises to spend a month with David to learn the true meaning of and the strength to be found in a successful D/s relationship. I really appreciated the emphasis on safe, sane, and consensual and loved the connection made between the two main characters. I was disappointed by the confrontation between Lee and Barry and also Lee's inability to trust David enough to support her through that ordeal, but David is a great Dom and meets the needs of his sub regardless of the stumbling blocks she puts forth.

Another fantastic read by Jennifer Leeland! David is a patient Dom with a penchant for helping subs with issues. Lee is a sub who definitely needs help getting beyond the lingering effects of a previously abusive Dom. I loved how these two needed each other and I love to see when a strong alpha male falls hard. Add to that some hot scenes where everything comes to life through great writing, and you have a 5 star book!

I liked this story and it was well written, but it falls flat for me because it is too short. There is not enough time for me to get emotionally involved with the characters and the sad part is I wanted to. In the beginning, the I feel hot with the premise of BDSM sex play but the next thing you you know it, the characters are hot and heavy into it and in love to boot. What happened to the build up of anticipation the author was leading to? I guess I felt let down and wanted more.

3.5 stars. Nice story, but it seemed a bit contrived. Since it’s a short story, everything happens so fast, and you don't really get to know the characters either. It would have benefited from being fleshed out a bit more.
