MUCH MUCH better than the first. It cleared up some lingering issues I had with the first book and, was very involved. It was a page turner and had my full attention from the very first page. I really enjoyed this and look forward to the next book. I love all the characters and how descriptive the author is. There was plenty of info to make you feel like you knew each and every character. I could do without the bedrooms scenes, the book is so involved, you really don't need the filler to understand how connected Alex and John are. That would be my only complaint, I felt like it was just fluffy filler, taking up space in the book. The dragon lady was a bit much too, but it is fiction, so I guess anything goes. :)

I read this book recently for a book tour. It was hard to read since I had not read the first one. Characters and the back story were set before this one and I was lost for the first half. If I had read the first book in the series, I may have really enjoyed this book. I may go back to read it just so I can understand this one better! See. My review is even confusing!
