The title references "Eighty Sweaters" but it might just as well be "Eighties Sweaters." These are ghastly, enormous, puffy, voluminous, vast, colossal, stupendous, mammoth garments with giant, mostly ugly patterns. Why did we want our clothes to swallow us up in the 80s? Why I originally bought this, I can't remember; I never made anything from it. I will find an oversized Little Free Library to leave this in.

This book is so, so, 80s - there isn't a single garment in it that I would knit as it is, but it is a great source book. There are some insipiring colour combinations from India, some fun charts taken from Tahitian wood carvings, and touches like necklines and cuff details that I would maybe adapt for a different garment, so well worth (my copy was 50p second hand!) a look.

I wouldn't use the Japanese patterns without double checking - some of the characters appear to be reversed, and goodness knows what you'd be saying!
